The walk to the fortress above Hvar Town offers stunning views overlooking the town and the sea beyond. Rick Steves way over exaggerates the difficulty of this walk for those in any kind of shape.
The stairs up to the road are by far more difficult than the long gentle switchbacks on the shaded lane that lead to the fortress terrace.
Took us less than an hour to walk up, tour the fortress, and walk back down. The views are definitely worth the climb and entrance fee. Otherwise it’s a small and interesting diversion but not much else.
