If you are in St Petersburg this winter (Oct 3 – March 9, 2020) check out the Ilya Repin exhibition at the Russian Museum. One of the best expositions I have seen in years, this 175th anniversary show chronicles the works of Ilya Repin, one of Russian most talented and prolific artists.
Specializing in portraiture, his stunning works, from grand scale historical pieces to intimate family portraits, depict the changing times in Russia from the mid-1870s to 1930. The over 250 paintings and drawings are beautifully displayed in professionally lit rooms.
