We took the direct route via Google Maps on fast roads for most of the way. Green countryside with stretches of vineyards but nothing very interesting aside from the turbulent clear blue skies mixed with white masses building into thunderheads.

The border crossing was fairly quick and easy. They didn’t look at the paper work or green card for the car. We bought the vignette for the Slovenia expressways just before the border to use up some of our remaining Kuna. To use up more Kuna we also bought gas, but beware that the last gas station on the main road is a good 15 miles before the border and they don’t sell vignettes.

We reached Kranjska Gora, our home base for the next 6 nights, at 12:30, about 3 hours driving time from Rovinj.
