Hiking Wet Beaver Wilderness, AZ

Arizona has countless scenic canyon trails. Finding one that actually has a perennial water source is more exceptional.

The 11 mile out and back Bell trail cuts through the red rock canyon to a shady creek with a steady flow in early October.

Crossing the water and continuing up the canyon trail on the other side leads to a primitive campsite with canyon views on both sides.

The maintained section of this trail ends shortly after reaching the border of the wilderness area. We tried to follow the trail along the plateau above the canyon, but we lost the path. Short on time we decided to turn back.

Wet Beaver Wilderness is located off of route 618, exit 298 on highway 17, about 12 miles north of Camp Verde.
