Venice in Pictures

How many years need to pass before a location that you once visited feels brand new again? For me, more than 15 but fewer than 22. Visiting Venice for the first time since my 1991 trip to Europe, I find the city an exciting new experience.  This concept is even more surprising considering that in the last 20 years we’ve traveled to many other cities in Europe, and across the world for that matter.

How could Venice feel different and exhilarating? It’s simple. There is no other city like Venice. Some may claim they are a “Little Venice” or a “Venice of the North” but in truth there is only one Venice and it is spectacular.  True, tourists crowd the San Marco Square, the Rialto Bridge and many of the main thoroughfares of the city. Nonetheless, the majesty of the Grand Canal and the romance of the narrow alley ways, especially on a gorgeous spring day in May, can delight even the most seasoned of travelers.
