The Chefchaouen medina is as blue as all the pictures suggest it is, in shades ranging from near purple to near green. Although itās a little gritty and in need of a good power washing, some might think this just adds to the charm.
Despite what the photos might suggest, this is a busy medina. Locals and tourists wind their way through the narrow blue alleys lined with a combination of small sundry shops and tourist goods. The Moroccan school holiday started the first week in April and as such many of the tourists are Moroccan university students and families.
