Meknes Medina in Pictures, Morocco

Wandering the souks of Meknes is a delight. Cleaner and more colorful than the narrow streets of Marrakesh (I havenā€™t been to Fez yet), its manageable size is a great training ground for its bigger cousins. The thread souk of colorful spools is my favorite.

Food Market

The covered food market just off Place el-Hedim is a mix of tantalizing baked treats, gorgeous olive displays, and fascinating butcher stalls (could be revolting depending on your tolerance for heads, hooves, and innards). An excellent example of how literally all parts of the animal are used. If you talk with the vendors a little they are happy to let you take pictures of the parts, just not of them.
