Leaving Valencia mid Sunday morning, traffic was light as we crossed southern Spain to Marbella, a small coastal city west of Malaga.
The 7 hour drive passes quickly with the ever changing rugged scenery of the Baetic Mountains.
Although the landscape becomes more desolate and colder as we climb, food production continues to be a major industry with the abundance of olive trees in lower regions replaced by nuts at higher elevations.
Closer to Malaga the forbidding terrain turns a vibrant shade of spring green dotted with blooming almond trees that glow white in the late afternoon sun.

Nice photos – particularly like the last 2!
Thanks. The last one is one of my favorites.
